So my sisters tease me because I am obsessed with buying scarves. I am so drawn to the patterns, textures and vibrant colors. My wardrobe tends to be primarily black (yes, i rely on the slimming effect black creates) so adding a fun, funky scarf gives me the pop of color I need to make a statement. I have worn scarves over turtlenecks, t-shirts, cardigans, and boatneck shirts. Don't be afraid to wear a scarf over a tank top this summer. Scarf aren't just for layering over winter coats anymore! There are actually many different ways to wear them, so I thought I would bring a few options your way to help shake things up and keep you up to speed on this hot fashion accessory.
For this look, fold the scarf in half long ways, wrap it around the back of your neck, then pull the loose ends through the hole made by the fold.
Great for open necklines. An oblong scarf is what you need. First, place middle of scarf at the back middle of your neck. Next, tie a loose knot on your scarf and put the knot just below your chin. Cross the ends of the scarf behind your neck and then bring the ends again to the front. Insert the ends of the scarf into the loose knot, making sure that they are in opposite directions. Finally, tighten the ends comfortable, and twist knotted section off the the side, or to the back of your neck.
To create this looped effect, a long rectangular scarf must be used. Lay the scarf across the back of your neck and let it hang, but leave one side slightly longer than the other. Next, take the side that is longer and wrap it around your neck, moving it around your head in a counterclockwise motion. The scarf should end where you began turning it, now having a loop around the neck and the scarf ends hanging down across the chest on both sides. You can also stop the twist of the scarf end half way and leave one end hanging in front and one end down your back.
The simple style of a draped scarf is achieved by using a long rectangular scarf. Lay the scarf across the neck with the center at the middle of the back of the neck, let the loose ends hang down the front of your chest. The scarf will create a long and lean look for your figure, regardless of its texture.
Bandana (Jessica Alba (WOW Friends))
The bandana scarf is quickly becoming the most popular way to wear a scarf this summer. The lightweight material of the bandana makes it the perfect accessory for a day out in the heat. To attain this look, fold the scarf in half, corner to corner. Next lay the triangle on your chest with the point facing the floor, then wrap the other ends around your neck and tie.
Ok ladies... are we ready? Dig into the back of that closet of yours and pull out those scarves you've been buying and not wearing! Wrap them around, put on some confidence and go get 'em!
